ABOUT DAN HEATLEY – PERSONAL TRAINER IN PRESTON

I have been working in the fitness industry since 2006 and operating as a qualified personal trainer since 2011. After years of coaching in busy commercial gyms, I co-founded my own private training studio in 2015.

This is a completely private, non-commercial facility. We do not run small groups, we do not host big classes, and we are not open to the general public. We specialise strictly in 1-to-1 and 1-to-2 personal training, ensuring you get 100% of our focus.

Over the years, I have worked with people from all walks of life. Some have never stepped foot in a gym before, while others have trained for years but struggled to make further progress. Every client arrives with different goals, different challenges and different levels of confidence, which is exactly why I never believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.

For me, personal training is about far more than simply putting someone through a workout. It is about understanding where you are today, where you want to be and creating a realistic plan that fits around your life. There is no point following a programme that looks great on paper if it cannot be sustained alongside work, family and everything else life throws at you.

Working in a private studio allows us to focus entirely on your progress without the distractions that often come with busy commercial gyms. Whether your goal is to become stronger, improve your fitness, lose weight or simply feel healthier and more capable, every session is designed to move you forward with purpose and confidence.

PERSONAL TRAINING IN PRESTON – BUILT AROUND YOU

If you’re looking for personal training in Preston, it’s important to find an approach that takes your individual circumstances into account. Your experience, current fitness, availability and what you hope to achieve will all influence how we approach your training.

As an experienced personal trainer in Preston, I’ll work with you to establish clear, achievable goals and put together a structured programme that provides direction from your very first session. We’ll regularly review how things are going, identify areas for improvement and make adjustments where needed.

The aim is to make every session worthwhile, giving you a clear understanding of what you’re working towards and how each stage contributes to your progress.

Built Around Your Starting Point

Whether you're completely new to exercise or have been training for years, we'll start from where you are now and build from there.

Focused on Your Goals

Your training is shaped around what you actually want to achieve, whether that's improved strength, weight loss, better fitness or greater confidence.

Designed for Real Life

Training needs to work around your life. We’ll create a realistic approach that fits alongside your job, family and other commitments.

Your programme will continue to evolve as you progress, with your training adapted to your changing ability, confidence and goals.

SERVICES OFFERED

My personal training services cover several areas of fitness and wellbeing, allowing us to address different aspects of your health within the same programme. From individual coaching and strength development to nutrition guidance and ongoing support, each service plays a part in helping you achieve your objectives.

Here’s a closer look at the support available through Dan Heatley Personal Training in Preston.

1-to-1 Personal Training

Every session is planned specifically for you. We work at your pace, focusing on your goals while making sure you build confidence, improve your technique and enjoy the process. You’ll always know what you’re doing, why you’re doing it and how it fits into your long-term progress.

Strength Training

Building strength isn’t just about lifting heavier weights. It’s about moving better, becoming more capable and giving your body the foundation it needs for everyday life. Whether you’re completely new to resistance training or looking to improve your performance, we’ll focus on safe, effective progress that you can build on week after week.

Weight Loss Coaching

Losing weight doesn’t have to mean cutting out everything you enjoy or following the latest trend. We’ll build habits that fit around your lifestyle, combining sensible nutrition with structured training to help you make progress that you can actually maintain long after you’ve reached your goal.

Nutrition Support

Good nutrition should support your goals without making everyday life unnecessarily complicated. I’ll help you understand how your food choices can work alongside your training, with practical guidance tailored to your goals and lifestyle. The focus is on building realistic habits you can maintain, rather than restrictive diets or short-term fixes.

Accountability & Ongoing Support

The sessions themselves are only part of the journey. Having someone to keep you accountable, answer your questions and make adjustments as you progress can make all the difference. I’ll help you stay focused, overcome setbacks and keep moving in the right direction, even when life gets busy.

Long-Term Health & Longevity

My goal isn’t simply to help you look better for a holiday or special occasion. I want to help you build a stronger, healthier body that will continue to serve you for years to come. By improving your strength, fitness, mobility and overall health, you’ll not only feel better today but also invest in your future quality of life.

Why Choose Me

Let’s be clear: I am not a “transformation coach.” I am not a 12-week fat loss specialist pushing fad diets. I am a longevity coach.

My philosophy relies on the 1% rule: making small, manageable changes that alter your habits for the long term. That is infinitely more valuable than any crash diet or extreme training regime.

Think about the TV show The Biggest Loser. Contestants are placed in an extremely restricted environment with no outside choices—essentially trapped on a desert island. Fast-forward a year, and most are in a worse position than when they started. Why? Because they never built sustainable habits. The moment they returned to reality—juggling work, kids, and daily life—they reverted to type.

Health is not a race. Just because you aren’t ticking every single box right now doesn’t mean you won’t get there. We will figure it out together, one sustainable habit at a time. I promise you that.

HOW PERSONAL TRAINING CAN HELP

The benefits of personal training go well beyond what you can achieve in the gym. Improving your physical fitness can have a noticeable impact on how you feel, move and manage everyday activities.

Strength and physical capability are important at every stage of life. Developing stronger muscles can make everyday tasks easier, from lifting and carrying to climbing stairs and maintaining good posture. Resistance training can also help preserve muscle mass as you get older.

Cardiovascular fitness and mobility are equally valuable. Improving your stamina can make walking, cycling and other activities feel less demanding, while working on mobility and balance can help you move more comfortably and confidently.

There are also benefits to your general wellbeing. Regular physical activity can support better sleep, help manage stress and improve energy levels throughout the day. For many people, feeling fitter and more physically capable brings a greater sense of independence and confidence outside the gym.

Who Can Benefit From Personal Training?

Personal training isn’t limited to people who already enjoy exercise or feel confident in a gym. I work with clients of different ages, abilities and backgrounds, including complete beginners, people returning to exercise after a long break and those who already train regularly.

You might be someone who spends most of the working day sitting at a desk and wants to become more active. Perhaps you’ve reached a point where your usual workouts aren’t producing the results they once did, or you’re finding that changes in your lifestyle have affected your fitness and energy levels.

Others simply prefer having professional guidance rather than trying to work everything out themselves. Whatever your circumstances, personal training provides an opportunity to develop your abilities at an appropriate pace, with exercises and expectations suited to your individual starting point.

For some people, the decision to start personal training comes after a significant change in their circumstances. A new job, becoming a parent, approaching retirement or simply having more time to concentrate on themselves can all prompt someone to reconsider their approach to exercise. There’s no particular age or stage of life when you need to begin.

I also work with people who have spent years putting everyone else’s needs ahead of their own. Finding time for exercise can be difficult when you’re juggling work, family and other responsibilities, and it’s easy for your own physical wellbeing to slip down the list of priorities. Personal training can provide a dedicated opportunity to concentrate on yourself.

You don’t need to have a particular sporting ambition or a dramatic transformation in mind, either. Some clients want to remain active as they get older, others would like to feel more comfortable taking part in recreational activities, and some simply want to establish a more positive relationship with exercise.

Whatever brings you to personal training, the important thing is that you don’t have to fit a particular mould to benefit from it.

Personal Training Preston – Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re considering personal training in Preston, it’s natural to have a few questions before getting started. Below you’ll find answers to some of the things I’m commonly asked about how personal training works, what to expect from your sessions and the approach I take at my private Preston studio.

How do I get started with personal training?

The first step is simply getting in touch to discuss what you’d like to achieve. We can talk about your goals, your previous experience with exercise and anything that may have stopped you making progress in the past. From there, we can decide on the most appropriate way to get started with personal training.

We’ll start by looking at where you are now and what you want to achieve. Your training can then be structured around your current fitness, experience and goals rather than putting you straight into a generic programme. As you become stronger, fitter and more confident, your training will progress with you.

There isn’t one answer that suits everyone. How often you train will depend on your goals, experience, availability and what other exercise you’re able to do during the week. The aim is to find a realistic routine that you can maintain rather than setting a schedule that doesn’t fit around your life.

Everyone progresses at a different rate, so there isn’t a set timescale. Your starting point, goals, training consistency, nutrition and lifestyle can all affect your progress. Rather than promising quick results, the focus is on making consistent improvements that can be maintained over the long term.

That’s extremely common and doesn’t mean personal training isn’t for you. One of the benefits of working with a personal trainer is having greater structure and accountability. We can also identify what hasn’t worked for you previously and build an approach that is more realistic for your lifestyle.

Yes. Your programme shouldn’t remain exactly the same as your fitness, strength and ability improve. Your training will be adapted over time so that it continues to challenge you appropriately and remains focused on the goals you’re working towards.

Yes. The private studio is based at Red Scar Industrial Estate on Longridge Road in Ribbleton, Preston. It’s convenient for clients travelling from areas including Fulwood, Grimsargh, Longridge, Goosnargh and Broughton, while the nearby M6 also makes it accessible for people travelling from further afield.

Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and suitable training shoes are ideal. You don’t need specialist gym clothing or equipment to get started. The important thing is that you’re comfortable and ready to train.
